Rome's major shopping malls are spread along the GRA ring road and the main arterial roads. Unlike Milan, where the largest malls sit in the hinterland, Rome's three biggest (RomaEst, Euroma2, Porta di Roma) are all within the GRA. This is the updated 2026 ranking by floor area and number of stores, with transport directions from the city centre.
1. RomaEst — 55,000 m², 155 stores (east Rome, Via Collatina). The largest by floor area. Primark, Decathlon, UCI Cinemas (12 screens), Panorama hypermarket. Two levels with a very long gallery. The reference mall for the entire eastern quadrant of Rome.
2. Euroma2 — 54,000 m², 169 stores (EUR district, Viale dell'Oceano Pacifico). The highest number of stores among traditional malls. H&M, Zara, Apple, Unieuro, Sephora. Strategic location in the EUR business district, walking distance from Metro B (EUR Fermi stop). No cinema.
3. Porta di Roma — 50,000 m², 166 stores (north Rome, Bufalotta). IKEA adjacent, UCI Cinemas (14 screens), Leroy Merlin in the retail park. How to get there: Metro B1 to Jonio, then bus. The main mall for the entire northern quadrant.
4. The WoW Side — 45,000 m², 250 stores (Fiumicino). The highest store count if the external retail park is included. UCI Cinemas with 24 screens (the largest multiplex in Italy). Zara, H&M, Bershka, Pull&Bear. How to get there: regional train FR1 from Trastevere and Ostiense stations.
5. Maximo Shopping — 40,000 m², 96 stores (Via Laurentina). The newest of Rome's large malls (opened in late 2020). Modern architecture, UCI Luxe (7 screens), Primark, JoyVillage. How to get there: Metro B to Laurentina, then bus 730.
6. GranRoma — 35,000 m², 70 stores (Via Prenestina Bis). Medium-sized mall with Unieuro, OVS, MediaWorld. Near the GRA east.
Beyond the six main malls, Rome has a dense network of neighbourhood centres. Aura at Valle Aurelia (36 stores, Metro A) is the most convenient for the western quadrant. Cinecittà Due (34 stores, Metro A Subaugusta) serves the south-east with Coin, La Feltrinelli and OVS.
I Granai in the Laurentina area (74 stores) and La Romanina (47 stores, H&M, Sephora) cover the southern quadrant. Tiburtino (79 stores) serves the Via Tiburtina corridor with Euronics and OBI. Happio (14 stores) on Via Appia Nuova is the most metro-accessible mall in Rome, directly at the exit of Metro A (Furio Camillo), with a food court open until 23:00.
For discount shopping on international brands, Rome has two major outlet villages. Valmontone Outlet (160 stores, 40 km on the A1 motorway) is the larger of the two, with 30-70% discounts and MagicLand theme park next door. Castel Romano Designer Outlet (159 stores, 25 km via the Pontina road) is managed by McArthurGlen and focuses on luxury brands: Burberry, Armani, Coach.
Most stores: Euroma2 (169). Largest floor area: RomaEst. Families + IKEA: Porta di Roma. Cinema and entertainment: The WoW Side (UCI Cinemas 24 screens). Most modern: Maximo. Outlet brands: Valmontone (volume) or Castel Romano (luxury).
